PRIVACY
Effective August 24, 2026
Short version: The minimum needed to run fair voting is collected. Optional analytics stay off unless you say yes.
1. Data used to run the site
When you vote or submit an idea, Playground creates a random device identifier in a secure, HTTP-only cookie. The server transforms that identifier and your network address into separate keyed hashes before storing them. The raw values are not stored in the voting database. These hashes, timestamps, ballot choices, submitted idea text, and supplied X handle are used to enforce rolling 24-hour limits, count votes, show attribution, and prevent abuse.
2. Public information
Submitted idea text is public and may remain visible or archived. Adding an X handle is optional; if provided, it is also public. Ideas submitted without one are displayed as anonymous. Do not submit private information or an X handle you are not authorized to use.
3. Optional analytics
Playground uses Google Analytics 4 with advanced Consent Mode v2. The Google tag loads with analytics storage, advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization denied by default. Before you consent, it does not set analytics cookies but may send Google limited cookieless measurement signals. If you choose “Okay,” only analytics storage is granted, allowing fuller visit measurement and analytics cookies. Google signals and advertising personalization remain disabled.
Vercel Web Analytics loads only after you choose “Okay.” Analytics providers may process pages visited, referrer, approximate location, browser and device characteristics, timestamps, and interaction events. You can reopen Cookie settings from the footer and withdraw consent as easily as you gave it.
4. Cookies and local storage
- playground_device: necessary, HTTP-only cookie used for vote and submission limits; retained for up to one year.
- playground_analytics: preference cookie recording whether you accepted or declined optional analytics; retained for up to six months.
- _ga and _ga_*: optional Google Analytics cookies used after consent; configured to expire after up to 395 days.
- The game may keep session-only performance information in memory, such as your current best race time.
5. Providers and transfers
Vercel hosts the site and provides optional web analytics. Neon stores voting and submission records. Cloudflare Turnstile distinguishes people from abusive automation. Google provides optional Google Analytics. Read Google’s Privacy Policy, Vercel’s Privacy Policy, and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
6. Retention and choices
Voting and submission records are kept for as long as reasonably needed to operate the ballot, preserve results, resolve abuse, and maintain the project. You can decline analytics without losing access.
7. Contact
To ask about, correct, or remove a public submission, contact @thevictorjaro on X.
